It appears the Vancouver Canucks will be down a forward for their final game before the Olympic break.
Filip Chytil is unlikely to play in the team's game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday due to migraines, head coach Adam Foote told reporters on Tuesday.
Chytil was absent from Tuesday's practice after he was injured in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Utah Mammoth.
While the team initially didn't give a reason for why Chytil left the game, Foote said post-game that the forward had "tweaked something."
When asked a follow-up if the injury was related to Chytill's history with concussions, Foote replied: "I hope not."
The 26-year-old was playing in just his 12th game of the season after a concussion cost him three months from mid-October to mid-January. He had just returned to the lineup on Jan. 23 but has dealt with multiple concussions over his nine NHL seasons.
"From the beginning, it was very hard, because I was hopeful that I can manage to play all 82 games, but it wasn't the case …" Chytil told reporters in January. "Sometimes it's the days like this, the last two years, that have been very hard for myself and for my wife, for my family, especially. I missed so many events, I missed so many games in the NHL, now I'm gonna miss the Olympics as well. So it sucks, but it is what it is."
Conor Garland also missed practice on Tuesday, but Foote said it was just a maintenance day for the veteran forward.
Garland is expected to be in the lineup when the last-place Canucks wrap their pre-Olympic schedule against the Golden Knights on Wednesday.
